Soleil - ESOL
Soleil is one of our current Entry 3 ESOL learners, who will be completing her studies very shortly. Soleil has been studying ESOL with HCUK Training for last year and has completed both Reading & Writing and Speaking & Listening components.
Soleil arrived in the UK from the Democratic Republic of Congo with very little knowledge and understanding of the English language. However, during Soleil’s time studying ESOL with HCUK Training, it has developed not only her knowledge of the English language but is more confident when completing everyday tasks. Soleil explained “I used to go into shops and not really say anything, but now I am able to have full conversations when I do my shopping, which is good.”
Once Soleil has completed Entry 3, she is looking to go onto further study and eventually go to University in the not too distant future to study IT. Soleil said “It is my dream to continue studying so I can go to university.”
Sarah – Health & Social Care SBWA
Sarah has recently completed her Health & Social Care Sector Based Work Academy in partnership with HCUK Training, Job Centre Plus and a consortium of care businesses. Prior to Sarah completing the course, she had recently lost her job working in a bar/restaurant and was keen to find a new role in different sector. In her meetings with her work coach Sarah indicated that a job in care would really suit her, but didn’t have any prior experience in care which proved to be a barrier. The Care Consortium was recommended by her Work Coach and she took part in the week long course. The course consisted of an Introduction to Care, together with support on making the right impression with potential employers.
During Sarah’s time with HCUK Training her confidence grew together with her knowledge of the Care industry. Sarah explained, “The tutors were really experienced and gave me lots of insight into the care industry.”
After completing the course, Sarah applied to a number of the care providers and had interviews with seven different employers. Following on from these interviews Sarah was offered 3 different roles. Sarah accepted a role with Hica and began working with them in January 2017.
Sarah said “I am really enjoying my time here with Hica and they are putting me through lots more training to be able to do different tasks and increase my responsibilities.” Sarah is looking forward to lengthy career in the Care industry and is looking forward to progressing with Hica in the years to come.
Sarah did it, so can you!
