HCUK Training Employment Services run a variety of different programmes aimed at helping a wide range of people. From those who are out of work receiving benefits and need help and support to find a job, to those who want to start an apprenticeship or simply continue learning, we have the facility and skills set to offer multiple avenues of support.

We work closely with regional and national employers across a wide range of sectors, closely aligned to the strategic priorities of the Local Enterprise Partnerships. We offer a variety of training programmes offering accredited training that is focused on practical real work skills.

With specialist staff on hand to offer individualised support, advice and guidance, we pride ourselves on delivering an excellent learning experience.

Choose to Improve

The Flagship Flexible Support Fund provision in the Humber

The Choose to Improve Programme is an innovative individualised programme of support aimed at 18 -24 year olds on Jobseekers Allowance (JSA), Incapacity Benefit (IB) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). The Choose to Improve Programme lasts for 6 weeks.

The Choose to Improve Programme is delivered by HCUK Training Employment Services and selected sub-contractors and specialist third sector community organisations across Yorkshire and The Humber, ensuring a complete offer of the most appropriate, meaningful interventions across the 6 week programme.

Pre-Employment Training

For anyone aged 19+ and in receipt of benefits

This programme is designed to help improve your chances of securing a job in the sector of your choice. We work with a variety of organisations to support their recruitment needs and a HCUK Training Pre-Employment Training programme or Jobcentre Plus Sector Based Work Academy offers employers the flexibility to recruit people that have the right skills and knowledge of their business.

A Pre-Employment Training programme can last any duration, as agreed with each individual employer to meet their recruitment needs and includes the following:

  • Employability skills and interview preparation
  • CV Polish
  • Vocational qualifications in the specified sector
  • Mandatory Skills Qualifications
  • Mock Interview

A Jobcentre Sector Based Work Academy can last from three days to six weeks and has three key components:

  • Pre-employment training – relevant to your needs to help you access a particular sector
  • A work insight visit or work trial – of great benefit to both you and the business who are recruiting
  • A guaranteed job interview
